@transsexworks wants to open a counseling center and night café in the red light district of Schöneberg in 2025 together with the Berliner Stadtmission. The café is to become a place where s*x w*rkers, people who use dr*gs and unhoused people can rest and receive support.
A detailed plan for the use of the property at Frobenstrasse 22 / Bülowstrasse, was submitted and funding was promised by the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district and the city of Berlin. The landlord, Gewobag, also gave their approval. However, on 21.01.25, the city received Gewobag’s rejection without an explanation. This is unacceptable.

As a state-owned company, Gewobag is obliged to provide space for social institutions at affordable rents. Gewobag’s withdrawal from the agreement on the premises at Frobenstraße 22 is also a rejection of the cooperation agreement reached with the Berlin Senate in 2024.

We are angry at Gewobag’s refusal and demand that they provide us with an alternative location! Gewobag’s slogan, “The whole diversity of Berlin”, reads like a mockery of the s*x w*rkers, dr*g users and homeless people in the neighborhood, who will be further marginalized by Gewobag’s cancellation.

We will not allow street pr*stit*tion to be further gentrified!
We will not allow our trans siblings and colleagues to continue to be denied a place to rest! Against displacement and for a city for all!
