Discussing Bethany Hughes' - "Venus Aphrodite- A Biography of Desire”'
alle
Thursday evening's new FLINTA* non-fiction Book Club began and continues with questioning old narratives and challenging societal structures. Questioning the common narratives of human history and the patriarchal tendency to reduce powerful women and even goddesses to something very non-threatening, we will look into “Venus Aphrodite- a Biography of Desire” by English historian, author, broadcaster, Bethany Hughes. You can read and/or listen to the author’s very captivating book which we will discuss weekly as a jumping off point for conversation it inspires. As it is an advanced course, it can also been visited by native English speakers who are interested in the book and an international discussion group.
