Antipsychiatric Group at Casa Kuà
A free anti-psychiatric group for queer BIPoC and all trans folks affected by psychiatric violence.
Many of us face psychiatric violence again and again. There are hardly any spaces to speak about these experiences without being exposed to new psychiatric pressure. We want to create such a space together.
For the next months, the group will become a 5-part workshop arc:
short input + collective discussion/work.
We will work with publicly documented biographies of Black trans and gender-nonconforming people shaped by psychiatric violence, pathologisation and coercion and use them as a starting point to think together about psychiatry, racism, transphobia and resistance.
The group is hosted by Maurjana (lived in a middle-class group home, Afro-German origin, EU passport, non-binary) and Echo (middle class, post-east-migrant, white, German passport, careleaver, non-binary, trans).
They partially don’t have lived experience and partially have negative experiences with involuntary psychiatric treatment or psychiatric violence while transitioning.
