R U an Exotic Invasive Species??
R U an Exotic Invasive Species?? is a workshop exploring migration narratives through writing, movement, and more-than-human perspectives. It brings together personal and family histories of migration and exile with the ways so-called “exotic invasive species” are classified, narrated, and perceived as being “out of place.”
During the workshop, each participant will choose an individual belonging to a so-called exotic invasive species and develop a sensitive and poetic dialogue with it, connecting its story to their own experiences, memories, or family histories. Through writing, bodily practices, observation, and collective experimentation, these encounters may take the form of letters, texts, performances, videos, installations, or other forms.
The workshop is part of my ongoing artistic research at the intersection of ecology, migration, language, and the body, and invites participants to question fixed ideas of belonging, territory, movement, and what it means to be considered “out of place.”
The workshop is primarily intended for people whose lives are shaped by personal or family histories of migration, displacement, or exile. No artistic experience is required. The workshop is open to anyone interested in exploring these questions through writing, movement, and collective experimentation.
Participants are invited to wear comfortable clothes that allow for movement and to bring personal objects, photographs, documents, or other items connected to their migration or family histories, if they feel comfortable doing so.
